All-Time and Current Championship Top Goal Scorers

Championship top goalscorers– The EFL Championship is the second tier of English football and at the end of the season, it supplies three new teams to the Premier League. There are many players who never tasted championship football throughout their careers. There are also players who spent the bulk of their career playing in the second tier. The nature of the competition makes it impossible to establish some records. For example, it is impossible to win the Championship consecutively because winning guarantees absence for the following season.

Another feat quite difficult but not impossible to accomplish is scoring many goals over a long period of time. This is because not many prolific strikers stay in the championship. If we look down in history, however, we will see some forwards who spent just enough time to put their name in the competition’s history as far as goal scoring is concerned. Here are the all-time championship top goalscorers.

Murphy’s career is a perfect cocktail of English and Scottish football. The striker played for Sunderland in the Premier League in the early 2000s but has not been back since he left them in 2010. Now 38 years old, it is safe to say his career is over. Murphy who is currently with Bolton Wanderers in League one played for 5 clubs in the Championship making over 300 appearances.
